| West
Virginia's savannah
Emerald pastures of
bluegrass carpet this stunning region of backvalley
plantations and Revolutionary War-era towns. The
Lewisburg National Historic District -- with its shops,
cafes, theaters, and galleries -- is a popular vacation
destination that serves as a focal
point for the region. Nearby, The Greenbrier has hosted
presidents and royalty since the discovery of its White
Sulphur Spring in the late 1700s. The Greenbrier River
and its rail-trail provides plenty of recreation for
anglers and swimmers, hikers and cyclists.
The
Levels underground
The Greenbrier
Valley's levels are formed by soft limestones, which
allow the land to slowly sink into the caverns below.
Two such caverns offer year-round tours -- Organ Cave
and Lost World Caverns.
