Boone
County was formed in 1847 from parts of Kanawha, Cabell and Logan Counties and
named for Daniel Boone, noted hunter and explorer, whose home was in
West Virginia's Kanawha

Cabell
County was created in 1809 from Kanawha County, and named in honor of William H. Cabell,
Governor of Virginia from 1805 to 1808. County seat moved from Barboursville to

in honor of General Israel Putnam, New England soldier and patriot. At Scary Creek,
