| McKell's Coal Properties Near
Thurmond
The McKell coal properties closest to the C&O
mainline at Thurmond were not developed until several
years after the Loup Creek Branch was opened. During the
early-1900's, various coal operators obtained leases to
McKell's coal properties located near Thurmond. The mines
opened on these leases, included: Dun Glen, Newlyn, Cadle
Ridge and Meadow Fork.
