From 1897 until The Great Depression, the Grand
Hotel at Pence Springs was among West Virginia's
most exclusive resorts. Today, it is among its
most romantic inns. Custom-designed rooms and
suites include private baths and unparalleled
views of the Greenbrier Valley. After an
invigorating day, relax among spacious porches,
gracious parlors, or in the Cider Press Lounge.
Opt for an evening of shopping, or catch a live
performance at Carnegie Hall in the Lewisburg
National Historic District. The elegant hotel
dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner,
which includes trademark duckling, rainbow trout,
and char-broiled black angus streak. The 400-acre
plantation and its mineral spring have been
featured in such magazines as Gourmet, Southern
Living, and Mid-Atlantic Country. Recreation
packages include hiking, golfing, biking, caving,
and fishing and canoeing on the Greenbrier River.
Check in is 4 p.m.; check out, at 11 a.m. On-site
camping is also available. Also of interest, the
adjacent Pence Springs Flea Market, on the old
polo grounds, has attracted more than 135,000
annual visitors for more than 20 years of Sundays.
The hotel is 20-miles west of Lewisburg and the
State Fairgrounds on W.Va. 3 and 30-miles south of
Interstate 64.

National Scenic River, Pipestem's trails, lodges,

visitors through all seasons. An aerial tram,
horseback rides, and stunning views of the
Bluestone Canyon and surrounding tablelands are
also among the park's popular attractions.
Restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a fishing lake
make this one of West Virginia's best vacation
destination parks. It earns our highest
recommendation.
