ATV Trails
Trails designated for ATV use are found throughout West Virginia. Private ATV and shared trails are also well-located throughout the Mountain State. Please familiarize yourself with ATV laws and etiquette before running West Virginia trails.

Browning Fork Trail (Hatfield & McCoy Trail System)

The Browning Fork trail system includes 115 miles of trails and some of the most remote trails in the Hatfield-McCoy trail system. Fifty-one percent of its trails are considered easy, 31 percent are moderate, and 11 percent are difficult. Seven percent are single-track trails. Gas, food, and lodging are available at Man and Gilbert, WV. Gilbert can be directly accessed directly by the southern extension of the trail. The Browning Fork area begins 20-minutes south of the U.S. 119 expressway at Logan, WV.


Buffalo Mountain Trails (Hatfield & McCoy Trail System)

The Buffalo Mountain trail system includes 95 miles of trails accessible from trailheads at Matewan and Williamson, WV, off U.S. 119 on the Kentucky-West Virginia border. Twenty percent of Buffalo Mountain trails are considered easy, 65 percent are moderate, and 13 percent are difficult. Gas, food, and lodging are available in Matewan and Williamson, WV.


Dingess-Rum Trails (Hatfield & McCoy Trail System)

The Dingess-Rum trail system includes 105 miles of trails accessible from W.Va. Route 17, 20-minutes northwest of Logan, WV. Forty-two percent of Dingess-Rum trails are considered easy, 27 percent are moderate, and 18 percent are difficult. Thirteen percent are single-track trails. Gas, food, and lodging are available near the trail. Use caution around mining areas.


Little Coal River Trails (Hatfield & McCoy Trail System)

The Little Coal River trail system includes 65 miles of trails in the northernmost part of the Hatfield & McCoy Trail system, 20 miles south of I-64 at Charleston, WV, and just off the U.S. 119 expressway. Fifty-eight percent of Little Coal River trails are considered easy, 30 percent are moderate, and six percent are difficult. Six percent are single-track trails. Lodging is available near the trail.


Pinnacle Creek Trails (Hatfield & McCoy Trail System)

The Pinnacle Creek trail system includes 105 miles of trails in the southernmost part of the Hafield & McCoy Trail system, 40-minutes southwest of I-77 at Beckley, WV. Forty-four percent of Pinnacle Creek trails are considered easy, 35 percent are moderate, and 21 percent are difficult. Gas, food, and lodging are available in Pineville, WV, at the northwestern extension of the trail.
