Seneca Caverns
Guided Walking Tours

Less than a 30-minute drive from Seneca Rocks, Seneca
Caverns served as a refuge for the Seneca Indians. Today,
adventurers may explore the cavern's unique abundance of
snow-white and cream-streaked flowstone where water
flowing in a very thin sheet has deposited minerals.
Streaks of flowstone lace themselves with tawny color as
they drape the walls and fall over subterranean cliffs. In
several rooms, you will find flecks of calcite crystal
woven into the flowstone causing reflected light to dance
and sparkle. Open daily. Tours leave every 20 minutes.

Trout swim through the subterranean pools here at Smoke
Hole, one of the most-visited caverns in the eastern
state. Its sparkling "Room of Million
Stalactites" features the second highest ceiling of
any cavern in the eastern U.S., towering 274 feet above
the floor. The world's largest ribbon stalactite, a rare
six-ton formation, has been rippled by the gentle air
currents that flow through the cavern. Gift shop.
