Licensing

Underage Residents and Underage Non-residents

West Virginia residents 15 and younger may hunt, fish, and trap without a license except when their quarry will include additional deer (Classes RB and RG), antlerless deer (Class N), and wild boar (Class P). A Hunter Education Certification card must be presented in order to purchase the these licenses. Non-residents 15 and younger may fish without a license.

Senior Citizens

Any West Virginia resident 65 years of age or older is not required to have a stamp to hunt, trap, or fish during the legal seasons in West Virginia; but, in lieu of such stamp, any such person shall at all times while hunting, trapping, or fishing, carry a valid WV driver's license or valid non-driver's ID card issued by the WV Division of Motor Vehicles. Senior Citizens are not required to obtain a Class I (National Forest), Class O (Trout), Class DS (Bear Damage), Class V (Muzzleloader-deer), Class W (Turkey), or Class MW (Migratory Waterfowl). However, they must purchase a Class N (Antlerless Deer), Class RG (Additional Deer-Gun), Class RB (Additional Deer-Bow), Class A-1 (Pistol), and Class P (Wild Boar), if desired. Federal regulations require that all waterfowl hunters over 16 years of age must carry a valid Federal Migratory Waterfowl sStamp. These are available at most U.S. Post Offices.
